BOOKS

Many people do not realise the power in a book. This is the power of the written word. Due to this lack of awareness, many of us have not read a non-fiction book since leaving school or university. Unfortunately, however, I hate to break to you that one of the secrets of developing yourself is that whatever answer to a problem that you are looking for, it is in a book somewhere that you have been unwilling to track down and read!
A book, especially a non-fiction book, exists to take a singular, contained set of wisdom or ideas out of the head of the author and share it with readers. Plainly put, a book is a medium of transfer for knowledge, wisdom, or ideas. That is the purpose it serves.
The right book can open your mind to new ideas, can inspire you to invent something new or can cause you become a winner in some area of your life like the author.
Here’s my Top 5 non-fiction authors to read in 2018 are as :
- Seth Godin – This American marketing guru will always have a special place in my heart as his book Linchpin: How To Become Indispensable is among my all time favourite books. It is the secret weapon I use in my own work life.
- Sunday Adelaja – Nigerian reformer based in Ukraine is a beast in the game. I officially recognise this man as my mentor and would not know where to begin with what he does. A political strategist, millionaire investor, megachurch pastor and prolific author, his books on how to reform your community will definitely come up in the near future.
- Robert Kiyosaki – The property investor and financial sage is worth a read, especially books like Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
- Og Mandino – Even after his death, the works of Og Mandino are a powerful help if you want to change your mindset to that of a winner and go getter. His best work in my opinion is The Greatest Salesman In The World. The 10 scrolls that it is based on are gold, even if you not a salesman at all.
- Donald Trump – The 45th President Of The United States was an active public figure for decades before he rose to his current office. I recommend his books to both his supporters and opponents. It is an interesting glimpse into his psyche and how he thinks. Think Like A Billionaire and The Art Of The Comeback are my favourites currently. medium.com@rickmatsokotere
